FLHS Vidin presents the great athlete Stefka Kostadinova
Stefka Georgieva Kostadinova is a Bulgarian athlete, olympic champion and multiple winner of European and world titles, world record holder in the high jump.
Stefka Kostadinova was born on March 25, 1965 in Plovdiv. She started his career with gymnastics and swimming. She studied at the Secondary Sports School "Vasil Levski" in Plovdiv. In 7th grade she is already a "master of sports", and in 10th grade she jumps 190 cm.
She made her first jump over 2 meters on August 25, 1984 in Sofia. After the sports school, she graduated in sports pedagogical profile at the Plovdiv University "Paisii Hilendarski".
On August 30, 1987, at the World Athletics Championships in Rome, Italy, she set a world record in the 209 cm high jump. This record has not yet been improved.
In 1997 she officially gave up his racing career.
Winner of the Stara Planina Orden, 1st degree in 1996. Admitted to the World Athletics Hall of Fame in 2012. Best athlete in the Balkans for 1985, 1987, 1995, 1996 and 1997. In the Top 10 in determining the best athlete in Bulgaria for 1993.
She is currently chairperson of the Bulgarian Olympic Committee.
