School of Economics and Trade Vranje - ALWAYS TOGETHER, NEVER APART. MAYBE IN DISTANCE, BUT NEVER IN HEART...
Today, when everyone is talking about the pandemic, the student parliament of our school, has prepared a short text on the subject.
Pandemic
The pandemic is derived from the Greek word παντέμιος, which refers to the whole nation, but in medicine it denotes a general disease, a disease that affects an entire nation or region. The concept of a pandemic should be defined and distinguished from similar and related concepts. For this purpose, we will use the legal or normative definition of significant terms. According to Article 2 of the Law on the Protection of the Population from Infectious Diseases, an infectious disease is a disease caused by a specific causal agent resulting from the transfer of the agent or its toxic products from an infected person or other reservoir to a susceptible host, either directly from person to person or indirectly through contaminated food, water, general use items, transient host, vector or non-living environment, and exchange of fluid contaminated with the pathogen. (Law on the Protection of the Population from Infectious Diseases ("Official Gazette of the RS", No. 15/2016))
A pandemic is a major epidemic of an infectious disease that is spreading very quickly across large areas, across multiple states or even continents. (Jovic, R., & Jovic, N. (1999). Health and social care in emergencies and in war. Belgrade: Faculty of Defense and Protection).
Viewed in a broader context, the first of the important factors at play is the virus itself and its pattern of infection. First of all, the repeated ignorance and surprise are the basic characteristics of the risk that arises. Second, world networks, intertwined, lead to unprecedented panic issues globally, resulting in great propaganda.
Many infectious diseases that occur and mutate by appearing in other forms are a threat to global security. Nearly 29 unknown infections have emerged across the planet since 1973, of which twenty have re-emerged as more drug-resistant or more lethal, such as HIV, malaria and zoonotic diseases - West Nile virus and so on.
A worldwide Corona virus pandemic is currently underway in the world.
What you need to know and what is very important is:
CRISIS COMMUNICATION DURING THE PANDEMIA
Communication is of utmost importance in human life in general, and especially in the modern post-formal society in which a whole new dimension of human existence is being created - virtual reality. In today's socially constructed world, communication mediated by mass media plays a special role.
The communication of risks related to human health and crisis communication of competent health institutions in crisis situations are particularly significant. If successful and effective it can reduce the negative consequences and significantly reduce health risks. Conversely, if inadequate, it can create mistrust, panic and significantly impede the health system's efforts to protect the health of the nation. Communication is of particular importance in preventing and controlling the spread of infectious diseases.
In the event of an epidemic or pandemic, good crisis communication can, depending on needs and circumstances, prevent unjustified panic, or increase alertness and caution of the population and encourage safe behaviors that contribute to preventing the spread of the pandemic (avoiding public gatherings, personal hygiene measures, etc.).
Crisis communication as information refers to the need to collect and send information during a crisis. Information is collected to fill the void caused by the crisis and to enable the crisis team to understand what is happening and to facilitate decision-making on the actions to be taken. Decision-making during a crisis presupposes the gathering of information in order for decisions to be correct and effective.
To conclude, we would say:
Do you love your parents, brother, sister? Get away from them.
Do you love your wife? - Don't touch her.
Do you like your grandparents? Don't approach them.
In these days, love means: being away from those you love.
