The new adoption law will come into force in March 2021.
09.03.2021 The new law provides for the simplification of the adoption procedure.
For example, the validity of the certificate of adopter or adoptive family has been extended from two to five years.
Also, the identification of relatives up to the fourth degree is eliminated from the adoption procedure in cases where the individualized child protection plan has as finality the adoption. Relatives will be searched only once and only up to the third degree, thus shortening the periods in which children remain trapped in the protection system.
The law also stipulates that children over the age of 14 will be able to benefit from the chance to stay with a family, remaining adoptable until adulthood (18 years old)
