European Charlemagne Youth Prize Competition - Call for applications

Each year since 2008, the European Parliament and the Foundation of the International Charlemagne Prize of Aachen invite young people from all EU Member States to come up with projects led by young people for young people dealing with European topics.

Anyone between 16 and 30 who resides in an EU Member State can enter projects for the European Charlemagne Youth Prize. Projects can be submitted individually or, preferably, by groups. They must promote European and international understanding, foster a sense of shared European identity and integration, provide role models for young people living in Europe and offer practical examples of Europeans living together as one community.

The prize for the best project is EUR 7 500, the second prize is EUR 5 000 and the third prize is EUR 2 500. The three European prize winners will be invited to visit the European Parliament in Brussels or Strasbourg.

One representative of each of the national winners will be invited to Aachen – all costs covered - for several days to attend a number of events, including the Charlemagne Youth Prize Award Ceremony, which always takes place two days before Ascension Day, the day on which the prestigious International Charlemagne Prize of Aachen is awarded.

The prizes for the best three projects will be presented by the President of the European Parliament and representatives of the Foundation of the International Charlemagne Prize of Aachen.

The closing date for the submission of projects is 21 February 2020.

The prize is a unique opportunity for young people to share their projects and their values. It also gives them a chance to become part of a European network of like-minded actors.
