Hazards in my place - Calafat

We live and we realize our activity in Calafat city, having as a neighbor Bulgaria, area of the country which is exposed, from time to time, to the floods determined by the Danube, fact that represents a latent danger.

We should mention the fact that a potential risk is represented by the county road Calfat – Ciupercenii Vechi, this one being partially flooded in every year when the Danube increases.

For prevention and action in case of floods  some simulations were done, more exactly realizing a protection pier made up of bags with sand, followed by the intervention of a firemen group from Calafat and a  SMURD medical team.

Because they endanger the agricultural cultures, the buildings and even the schools, the floods represent, in consequence, a real danger for our community. Like any other natural hazard, the floods cannot be prevented but their effects can be a lot decreased by  implying our community and by taking some concrete and durable measures.

Within the school communities, the pupils area approaching themes for prevention and behavior in case of risk, especially within the educational classes.

Because of the project: Network of the Safety Schools the school community has benefited from a thorough practical and theoretical preparation for acting in risky situations such as: floods, different types of accidents, terrorist attacks,  etc.
