FLHS Vidin presents: Nina Dobrev
Most movie lovers may have heard of the Canadian actress Nina Dobrev but probably only a few know that she has Bulgarian roots. Nina or Nikolina Kamenova Dobreva was born on January 9, 1989 in Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria. At the age of two she moved with her family to Toronto. Nina attended J. B. Tyrrell Sr. Public School, where she started ballet and jazz classes and competed in rhythmic gymnastics. Later she studied at Wexford Collegiate School for the Arts and at Ryerson University in Toronto, majoring in Sociology, though in 2008 her pursuit of an acting career prevented her from graduating. Dobrev took lessons on acting in the Armstrong studios in Toronto.
Dobrev’s career started as a model and with participation in advertisings. Then she started auditioning for different roles in the cinema and television. Nina has appeared in several movies and music videos. One of her major roles is in the supernatural drama series The Vampire Diaries where she played the lead role of Elena Gilbert. The Bulgarian girl is a three-time winner of the Teen Choice Awards.
Nina is also known for her love for animals and the charities which she stands for. She encourages the adopting of pets and gives an example with her dog which she saved from a shelter. Her latest cause was an invocation to her followers to donate and help the bushfires in Australia which happened this January, 2020.
Nina Dobrev is uncommitted and concentrated completely over her career. In several videos we can hear her speaking Bulgarian and saying that she is proud of being from here. And we also can say that we are proud of our Hollywood star.
