Healthy eating during a pandemic
The Student Council of PPMG "Acad. Prof. Dr. Asen Zlatarov "- Botevgrad celebrated the European Week of Public Health in the period 11-15 May 2020, which for the second consecutive year is held by the European Public Health Association (EUPHA). The motto of the Week "Working Together for Healthier Communities" is in the context of the global COVID-19 pandemic. The aim of the initiative is to raise awareness of important public health issues. In recent days, many people and the media have shared unconfirmed "advice" about miracle foods and supplements that prevent coronavirus infection or help overcome the disease. Unfortunately, there is no scientific evidence to recommend following a particular diet or consuming certain foods or nutrients to prevent coronavirus. Adherence to healthy eating recommendations can ensure optimal nutritional status, and good hygiene practices and social isolation can help reduce the spread of the coronavirus. In the current situation, the students from the Student Council discussed the problems of what is healthy food and which foods provide full development for the body, made presentations about the food pyramid, the most active participants on the topic were Ivanina Ivanova, Pavel Dimitrov, Petyo Peev and Alexander Konstantinov. With great interest the students accepted the challenge under the motto "Let's exchange recipes for healthy eating" and with a sense of humor noted that in the new school year it would be good to present these recipes and their preparation to the school community live.
